Split Complements

You choose the format, but no side smaller than 4 inches unless it's a square in which case the sides must be 6 inches.

I was asked:

for the split complimentary design, can we use different tints or shades of each color if it is still at its highest chroma?

A tint has white added, and a shade has black added, so neither of those is appropriate. Are you asking me if you can use slightly differently varieties of tertiary colors? It's OK, if the overall look of your design is 1 primary or secondary, and 2 tertiaries. You want to be careful not to let your tertiary get too close to one of its parent colors.

For example: You choose red, and the splits are yellow-green and blue-green. You don't want your yellow-green to be too yellow or too green. You are trying to keep the color as close to the actual SPLIT complement. Same goes for the blue-green. Try to keep it as close to BG as possible. Otherwise the design does not express split complements.

Your projects that were not accepted need to be picked up in FAB. Yesterday they were in a box on the floor of the hallway in front of room 114b. I would pick them up before some else does. You need those designs to be in your final portfolio, so go get them!
