USM Annual Student Art Show 2010
The opening for the Annual Student Art Show is at 4:00 today. Come out and be recognized for your hard work and support your fellow students who are participating. It's the right thing to do. And there are usually cookies.

Back From Break
Drawing Students, I know I said we would start on ink this coming Monday, but I have changed my mind. Just bring your regular supplies to school and we'll start with ink soon. I think it will work out better this way.

Student Show and Drawing Homework
This is the post I promised to open for discussion about preparing your work for the student show. Please feel free to ask questions or if you have any good tips, offer them up.
I was informed that I didn't give you any drawing homework. What was I thinking?!!!
OK, you're off the hook for the weekend. This means you have to be REALLY prepared for the student show on Monday.

Spring 2010 Student Show
All my current students are required to enter at least 1 item from this semester in the show.
Former students: I can't require you to enter, but I can ask you nicely. PLEASE, if you were in my summer painting class or my Fall 2009 Drawing 1 or Design 2 class, enter something from that semester. I'll be happy to help you choose work and sign your forms. The drawings need to be properly matted using neutral (black, white or gray) matt boards and the designs need to be mounted on the same. Paintings can be entered without frames, but a nice clean side is good. You can use lattice strips to cover the edges or just tape them with a neutral color tape.
This year the show is so early that my current students haven't really had a chance to build up enough in their portfolios to have a good selection. I'm really proud of everything we've achieved and I'd like us to be represented.

March 1, 2010...Sick Child
Hi Everyone,
My child is sick so I won't be in class today. I have asked Cathie in the Art Department Office to bring handouts for you with assignments for in class and for homework. If you have any questions, please post them as comments here so they can help others as well.
